Rurelec PLC (AIM:RUR), announces that its Empresa Guaracachi subsidiary in Bolivia has successfully commissioned its latest power plant. The 6 MW Jenbacher II plant at Aranjuez in Sucre consists of three high efficiency General Electric Jenbacher gas engines. It complements the 8 MW Jenbacher I project in Sucre which was brought on line in August 2006.

* Guaracachi added 79MW of new gas fired capacity in Bolivia - a 25% increase in 12 months
* 160 MW of new combined cycle projects in Argentina and Bolivia under development and financed during the year
* Group turnover in year to 31 December 2007 - £22.6m
* Operating profit - £2.3m, Guaracachi contribution increases to £3.4m
* Net Asset Value per share 47p at 31.12.07
* Dividend of 2.5p per share proposed, an increase of 11 per cent.

Executive Board of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Approves Significant Carbon Credits for Rurelec's Energia del Sur

The Directors of Rurelec PLC ("Rurelec"), the Latin American power generation company, are pleased to announce that the Executive Board of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change ("UNFCCC") has confirmed its approval and registration of 148,019 tonnes per year of C02 reductions in the form of Certified Emission Reductions certificates ("CERs") for the Argentine power company, Energia del Sur ("EdS") in which Rurelec has a 50% equity interest.

Executive President Statement

2007 has been a good year for Guaracachi and I am pleased to report record net income of US$ 9.63 million (Bs 73.8 million) and revenues of US$ 40.89 million (Bs.313.7 million). This compares with restated net income of US$ 8.13 million (Bs. 62.3 million) and revenues of US$ 35.25 million (Bs. 270.4 million) for the same period in 2006. Based on these results, which have been prepared under Bolivian GAAP, the Board of Guaracachi is recommending to its shareholders a dividend of US $7.16 million. The dividend attributable to Rurelec PLC will be approximately US $3.1 million after deduction of Bolivian withholding taxes at the rate of 12.5 per cent.
