1st April 2009
Since the announcement of 2 March 2009, high demand for power from the local grid resulted in CAMMESA, the regulator, not allowing both gas turbines at the Energia del Sur plant to be off- line simultaneously which has resulted in a short delay in the completion of the project.
One of the gas turbines is now connected to into the CCGT system and is producing an additional output of 10MW. The output has been computer checked and is performing to original design. Direct gas firing of the heat recovery steam generators ("HRSG") and steam turbine auxiliaries are currently being brought into service which will further increase the nominal capacity and this work is projected to be completed next week. Shortly there after the second gas turbine will be connected to its HRSG, a simple process of removing a spade plate, whereupon the system will be complete with the additional 60MW of nominal capacity.
