  • Andrew Coveney Open or Close

    Executive Director

    Andy is a Chartered Accountant, qualifying with Deloitte Haskins and Sells in 1991 then specialising in Corporate Finance advisory work. In 1993, he embarked on a 15 year spell as FD/MD of several financial and operational turnarounds in the manufacturing and distribution sectors, starting with the acquisition and susbsequent turnaround of CP Pharmaceuticals Limited, a loss-making division of Fisons plc before it was sold to Wockhardt Group a decade later. Subsequent roles included Benders Holdings Limited and Bernstein Group Holdings Limited before returning to the advisory world as a partner in Campbell Woolley LLP. Founded Coveney Associates Consulting in 2010 providing FD advice, turnaround services and cashflow management advice to a portfolio of businesses, including taking investments in some of those companies.


    Term of office

    Andy joined the Board of Rurelec PLC on 16 November 2016. He has been re-appointed at the annual general meeting dated 27 June 2019.

    Andy is also a director of some of the Rurelec Group subsidiaries:

    • - UK subsidiaries: Cochrane Power Limited and Rurelec Project Finance Limited.

    Background and experience

  • Brian Rowbotham Open or Close

    Senior Independent Non-Executive Director

     

    Term of office

    Brian joined the Board of Rurelec PLC on 16 October 2013 and he became the Chairman of the Audit Committee on that date. He has also been a member of the Remuneration and Nomination Committees since. He was re-appointed at the annual general meeting dated 27 June 2018.

    Brian is also a director of some of the Rurelec Group subsidiaries:

    • - Patagonia Energy Limited, 50% joined venture company owned by Rurelec PLC.

     

    Background and experience

    Qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and Touché and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Early City career included roles at Save and Prosper and F&C Management Ltd. Brian joined Teather and Greenwood in 1997 and was involved as partner and then Finance Director in the company’s flotation on AIM and subsequent move to the Official List. He ran his own consultancy specialising in turnarounds and start-ups until joining Hichens, Harrison & Co plc in January 2005.  Hichens Harrison was sold to Religare Enterprises in May 2008 and Brian subsequently stepped down from its Board in October 2008 remaining as a consultant.  He holds a number of other board positions.

    Brian is also a director of Mountbeach Associates Limited and Hot Rocks Investments PLC, positions he has held since 2003 and 2007 respectively.

  • Simon Morris Open or Close

    Executive Director

     

    Term of office

    Simon joined the Board of Rurelec PLC on 19 July 2015. He is a member of the Audit Committee. He was re-appointed at the annual general meeting dated 20 July 2017.

    Simon is also a director of some of the Rurelec Group subsidiaries:

    • - UK subsidiaries: Cochrane Power Limited and Rurelec Project Finance Limited.
    • - Patagonia Energy Limited, 50% joined venture company owned by Rurelec PLC
    • - Argentinean subsidiaries: Electrica del Sur, S.A. and Energia del Sur, S.A.
    • - Chilean subsidiaries: Termoelectrica del Norte, S.A. and Central Illapa, S.A.

     

    Background and experience

    Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Simon qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1980. After obtaining a degree in Business Studies, he spent his career with Grant Thornton and became a partner in 1988. Simon specialised in corporate finance and corporate recovery, principally restructuring work. He is a licensed insolvency practitioner.  He was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Grant Thornton UK in 2008, retiring in late 2011. Since then, he has acted as a business consultant. He is also an accredited mediator.

     

    External appointments

    Simon is also a director of Forecast Technology Limited, a position he has held since 2016, and SC Morris Limited, a position he has held since 2012.”
